NFL Executive: Patriots Are Going To Continue Being Best Coached Team

Hate if you may, but Bill Belichick is still the best coach in the National Football League, despite what the no-nothing critics, fans, and clickbait media say.

Bill Belichick’s success as head coach of the New England Patriots has been put into question for the last seven or eight years. There is a healthy portion of the NFL universe that believe Belichick is a failed coach, and only achieved the level of success he did because of Tom Brady.

Logic would tell you that’s B.S., and the last two seasons proved why Belichick is such a great coach.

Go back to 2020. COVID-19 had just reared its ugly head and the world shutdown. To make things worse for New England Patriots fans had to suffer with Brady leaving and joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That put New England in a position they hadn’t been in since 1992, the Patriots didn’t have a franchise quarterback.

Belichick decided to take a shot on former first round pick and 2015 league MVP Cam Newton. The Patriots roster wasn’t good, and years of backloading contracts caught up with New England and they were essentially broke when it came to the salary cap. Newton was also less than a shell of himself, and New England had to deal with a league high number of player op-outs. New England still finished the season 7-9. If the Patriots were coached by any other coach than Bill Belichick, the Patriots may have won two or three games that season.

After selecting Mac Jones with the 15th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and also spending close to $200 million in free agency, the New England Patriots under Bill Belichick returned to the postseason after only a single year absence.

I’m not sure where the notion that Belichick isn’t a good coach nonsense stems from. It could be because of his failings as a general manager, and it’s fair to say that he’s missed on draft picks and some free agents. But when it comes to game planning, matchups, and coaching, Belichick is still the cream of the crop.
