Bill Belichick is building sustainability, New Englands Patriots will be playoff competitors for a long time

Bill Belichick hasn’t had a lot of luck when it comes to the NFL Draft. However, dating back to 2020, Belichick has been building a young team through the Draft and free agency. While the NFL is leaning towards an NBA win-now mentality, Belichick is building a team that’s going to have long term sustainability. That will lead to playoff appearances, and when you make the playoffs, you always have a shot at the Super Bowl.

The 2022 NFL Draft will be very important for the New England Patriots. If they are able to address their four key positions: Interior offensive line, linebacker, cornerback, and wide receiver, Belichick will have his core. Another round of free agents in 2023, and another Draft, and I’ll guarantee to you that the Patriots are seen as one of the best teams in the NFL.

Am I being overly optimistic? Maybe, but consider this. Mac Jones, Kendrick Bourne, Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith, Damien Harris, and Rhamondre Stevenson are the offensive core. Draft a receiver like John Metchie and hope that DeVante Parker stays healthy, and New England has a top offense.

Matthew Judon, Kyle Dugger, Christian Barmore, and Ja’Whaun Bentley are the core of the defense. Draft a corner like Andrew Booth Jr, hope that Jabrill Peppers is who we hope he is, Ronnie Perkins, Josh Uche, Cameron McGrone come into their own, and the Patriots have a great defense.

There is a lot of reason to believe that the Patriots will be good very soon, and for a long time.
